Safety/Covid 19

  • All students and staff are required to wear a face mask/covering to school this year in compliance with the dress code. The mask/face covering can not violate our dress code in any manner.
  • Classroom will be sanitized and wiped regularly throughout the class period and day
  • Students will be expected to practice social distancing and sit in assigned seats in order for the safety of their classmates.
    • Technology and Communicaton:
  • We will be as paperless as possible in my classroom. All assignments and classroom materials will be available on Google Classroom. I will also use Google Classroom for a lot of my parent and student communication in the classroom. Parents and Students are still encouraged to email if they need to, but Google Classroom/Google meet are also excellent methods of communication.
  • Google:
    • Docs: Google Docs is similar to Microsoft Word. This will be used for writing assignments
    • Slides: Google Slides is similar to Microsoft PowerPoint. This will be used for making presentations.
    • Meet: Google Meet is similar to “Zoom”. You can use this to communicate with me, and I will utilize this for student/parent conferences when possible if we have to teach remotely this year.
  • Kami: This is an App that we will use a lot in the classroom as a means of editing documents/worksheets/texts on the computer. Students can use this software to draw, annotate, comment (video/audio/text), or otherwise edit PDF documents.
  • FlipGrid: FlipGrid is an app that allows students to post video responses to assignments and prompts that I may assign.
  • EdPuzzle: This is an app I will use to provide students with videos to watch on certain material we are studying. The video will have quizzes that the students will take by answering the questions that pop up at certain points in the video. These questions will be related to the material being discussed in the video.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Assignments from the textbook, class work, and homework will be given on a daily basis. ASSIGNMENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE TURNED IN ON TIME. There will be at least 16 minor grades & 4 major grades per nine weeks. Grading scale (%): 100-90=A; 89-80=B; 79-70=C; 69-60=D, 59-0=F

LATE WORK:

  • Unless alternate accommodations have been requested and approved due to extenuating circumstances, then:
  • One letter grade will be deducted each day the assignment is late.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY & PLAGIARISM:

Students are to submit only their own, original work. Cheating of any kind is not acceptable & demonstrates a lack of integrity that is inconsistent with the expectations for a Carr Middle School student. Should you choose to cheat on an assignment, you will receive a zero for that assignment and I will notify your parents.

If you are not sure whether something is considered plagiarism or not, it is best to ask the instructor.

TARDY POLICY:

Students are expected to be seated and ready to begin class when the tardy bell rings. Students with more than 5 tardies will be subject to disciplinary actions.
